Zendaya Just Pushed the Bubble Trend to the Puffiest Level in an Ultra-Short Minidress
Everyone pack up your bubble skirts because no one will be able to top Zendaya’s take on the trend.
While it seems like every celeb is in Italy for Milan Fashion Week, Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid weren’t the only celebs stepping out in New York City last night. On September 21, Zendaya reunited with Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler for a screening of Dune: Part Two, which apparently called for two leggy ensembles.
According to reports, Zendaya began the night in look pulled straight off the Burberry runway, pairing a sheer black maxi skirt with a structured white jacket that walks a fine line between marching band uniform and straight jacket-inspired tailoring. You know, in a good way! She paired both pieces from the British brand’s extremely recent spring-summer 2025 collection with a pair of tied-up thong heels and a slightly slicked-back wet hair look.
For her second look of the night, Zendaya decided to raise the volume—literally. Dressed in a teal bubble minidress from the Louis Vuitton’s 2025 resort collection. The ultra-short satin minidress is high-volume and high-shine, featuring a bouncy silhouette, off-the-shoulder synching, and a on-trend bubble hem. She kept her hair and makeup look from the start of the night, trading out her sandals for a more classic pointed-toe pump.
Vogue predicted the return of the polarizing bubble trend in May of this year, pointing out that “bubble girl style” was coming back just one month before Kylie Jenner really made it official in June. Alas, we I will no longer be able to partake knowing that Zendaya has already served the best the trend has to offer. Just kidding, obviously this just means the trend is here to stay—at least until popcorn tops get the comeback they truly deserve.
Of course, Zendaya and Jenner aren’t the only star embracing controversial trends from the early 2000s. Just last night, Taylor Swift stepped out in Vivienne Westwood boots eerily similar to the Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots that dominated fashion blogs from 2010 to 2013. What’s old is truly new again.
