US: Wall Street opens lower ahead of data-packed week


Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Tuesday (Sep 3) as investors moved to the sidelines ahead of a slew of economic data reports due through the week that could influence the extent of monetary policy easing by the Federal Reserve this year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 73.41 points, or 0.18 per cent, at the open to 41,489.67.

The S&P 500 opened lower by 24.51 points, or 0.43 per cent, at 5,623.89, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 128.17 points, or 0.72 per cent, to 17,585.45 at the opening bell. REUTERS
