DBS names Calvin Ong as new Singapore consumer banking head
He spent eight of his 17 years with DBS in the bank’s corporate treasury, where he was deputy corporate treasurer
DBS has appointed Calvin Ong as its new Singapore consumer banking head. He succeeds Jeremy Soo, who retires at the end of the year, the lender said on Friday (Sep 6).
Ong starts his new position on Jan 1, 2025, overseeing the group’s consumer banking and wealth management platforms.
Soo will stay on as an adviser, leaving his executive duties at the bank after 17 years as head of Singapore consumer banking.
Ong, 42, joined DBS in 2007 as a management associate, and is currently head of investment products and advisory at the bank’s consumer banking and wealth management group.
He has spent eight of his 17-year career at the lender’s corporate treasury, where he eventually became its deputy corporate treasurer.
He graduated from Oxford and Harvard universities before joining DBS.
Soo, who joined DBS in 2003, was responsible for overseeing the launch of Paylah! – the bank’s mobile wallet – as Singapore consumer banking head.
