‘Crash’ Co-Writer & Producer Bobby Moresco To Script Car Racing Biopic ‘Bugatti’

EXCLUSIVE: Bobby Moresco, who won an Oscar for the screenplay he co-wrote for Crash, has come aboard to script car racing biopic Bugatti, continuing his collaboration with Italian producer Andrea Iervolino (Ferrari).

Bugatti is slated to film late next year in Italy and France for Iervolino’s new banner, The Andrea Iervolino Company, and will feature a U.S. and international cast and be English-language. Moresco is scripting with Amanda Moresco and in collaboration with Soraya Azzabi.

The movie is set to tell the life story of Bugatti, the founder of the iconic automobile company, who was known for transforming the automotive world with his creative genius and relentless dedication to design and technology. The Italian-born French designer and manufacturer also designed aeroplane engines and was no stranger to tragedy: Bugatti’s son, Jean, was killed on 11 August 1939 at the age of 30 while testing a Bugatti car near the family’s factory HQ in Germany.

Moresco and Iervolino previously collaborated on Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend and are currently in production in Italy on Maserati: The Brothers, which Bobby Moresco also directs. MaseratiThe Brothers is starring Anthony Hopkins, Michele Marrone, Andy Garcia and Jessica Alba.

Iervolino stated today: “I am honored to continue this journey with Bobby Moresco, a remarkable talent capable of bringing depth and authenticity to the stories we tell. With Bugatti, we aim to explore the life of another visionary in the automotive world, delivering an exciting and faithful narrative that celebrates the greatness of Italy’s automotive tradition.”

Iervolino was until recently the long-time business partner of Monika Bacardi but the two recently went their separate ways, not without some bad blood.

Recent films produced by the Italian include Johnny Depp’s San Sebastian entry Modi starring Al Pacino, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s franchise sequel Kill ‘Em All 2 and thriller Skincare starring Elizabth Banks. Previous credits include Waiting for the Barbarians starring Mark Rylance, Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson and drama To the Bone starring Lily Collins and Keanu Reeves.
